this is another one of those topics that i've been meaning to write about for what feels like forever, but i hadn't gotten around to it yet. then i read this nyt article (which may or may not be behind a paywall, depending on your nyt access) and realized that it kinds fits in with what i've been meaning to talk about.
how do people of faith reconcile their beliefs when faced with a crisis? this is something i struggle with on a regular basis. i've written previously about a concept i like to call "crazy faith and angry prayers," which pretty much involves me swearing at god even while i'm attempting to believe that things will work out as they should. i gotta admit, though, that sometimes i feel like my faith isn't enough. like the conversations i have with god aren't being heard. like i could really pull a godzilla and just be like "fuck all of the things" for all the difference my faith seems to make.
shit's hard, yo. i genuinely wonder how other folks who believe in some sort of higher power or spiritual being manage when things go fubar. how do y'all make it work? have you ever been faced with something that redefines the meaning of a clusterfuck and just decided to give up on faith altogether? or were you able to strengthen your faith in the midst of a challenge or challenges?
feel free to talk about it in the comments, or drop me an email if it's too personal to discuss in public on the internets.
