so i saw michael mcdonald and toto at ravinia on friday night. judge away. i don't care. that show was AMAZING. i am 74% sure that cheryl lynn was there singing backup when toto did "georgy porgy." i am 1098% sure that michael mcdonald still has one of the best beards in the music industry. do not bother attempting to argue with me about this. i will write about all of the shows i attended in 2014 and friday night's performance will more than likely be near the top of my list.
did i mention that this show was AMAZING? b/c it was AMAZING. i'm not just saying that b/c i was #unsober for most of it, either. i have never loved yacht rock as much as i did friday night. even without kenny loggins, "this is it" performed live kinda melted my face.
and as much as i wanted michael mcdonald to do just one michael jackson song (although if he did, i might still be rolling around ravinia's lawn in sheer glee), my wish was not granted. michael mcdonald did, however, give us some stevie wonder as part of his encore. first this:

i have already tweeted the fine folks at ravinia about making an mp3 version of this encore available so i can throw money at them. michael mcdonald went from "you haven't done nothin'" to "superstition" and back and forth again for a good 10 minutes. i wished i'd brought my tambourine with me. it was (wait for it) AMAZING. my friend and i just looked at each other and kept asking "is this happening? is this encore happening? holy shit!" (i did mention that we were #unsober, right? right.)
